OUR VOIce. OUr Future.
OUR Main Activities
We want to assess how local authorities currently support local youth forums and youth participation, capture young people's stories and experiences, and identify best practice.
Building on our assessment, and recent reports like 'Being Heard', we aim to produce a document outlining what the future of local youth forums need to look like to deliver for young people!
Finally, we want to directly support local youth forums through our small grants intiative: 'ALYVE & Kicking!'
This will build on our report, and hopefully bridge the funding gap that some forums face.
How do we know that this is needed?
The most recent research into local youth forums in Scotland was the 'Being Heard' report, developed by Cllr John Ross Scott and Kristopher Leask and published in 2018. It found, among a number of things, that:
"Overall, the approaches made by local authorities to engaging young people is disjointed with no universal structures or programmes in place on a national scale."
